The main idea
Europe's rural regions make a substantial contribution to the richness and diversity of European culture, but are not eligable to apply for European Capital of Culture (ECOC) status. The European Regions of Culture Campaign is investigating the possibility of creating a parallel scheme to ECOC which celebrates and connects rural regions: to harness rural culture to create a better, more sustainable future for rural regions individually, collectively and in Europe as a whole.
What we're doing
Developing a network of cultural operators in rural regions so that we can:
- exchange ideas
- facilitate cultural partnerships
- develop projects
- promote the campaign.
This process started with a Culture Fund Pilot project in 2009.
What we want you to do
